Oak Brook Autumn Fest

Oak Brook kicks off its 2008 Autum Fest at noon on Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Bath & Tennis Club, 800 Oak Brook Rd.

Activities last until 5 p.m. and all activities and rides for children of all ages are free. The Bath & Tennis Club will offer hamburgers, hot dogs and more for sale.

Children’s activities include pony rides, clowns, balloon artists, a magic show, moon jumps, cupcake decorating, sand art, a DJ who will play children’s music, tennis and golf (rackets and clubs will be supplied). Also on hand will be the village’s K-9 police officer, DARE officer and Fire Department personnel.

Wi-Fi at the library

 Wi-Fi is now available at the Oak Brook Public Library so grab your laptop and you can take advantage of free high-speed wireless Internet access at no cost during library hours which are: 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays (however the library is closed on Sundays during the summer). The library is at 600 Oak Brook Rd.

Oak Brook 50th anniversary celebration

Oak Brook is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008, with events scheduled throughout the year. On the calendar for June:

Oak Brook celebrates its children:

Mr. Nicky Kids Concert will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Mayslake  Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook. Tickets are $5 each or $15 for a family of 5. Call (630) 206-9566 for tickets.  The event is hosted by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and sponsored by Trader Joe’s of Downers Grove.

Oak Brook celebrates its Fathers:

The Father’s Day Classic Car Show takes place at Oakbrook Center from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 15. There is no entry fee.  More than 100 antique, classic and vintage automobiles are to be on display as the car show as it celebrates its 40th year.
